What a difference a day made
Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where there used to be rain...
Our planet has been circling the sun for an estimated 4 billion years, life on Earth started out as cells membranes, bacteria and organisms. Slowly developing over time. The Modern Human (homo sapiens) were said to have roamed Earth around 200,000 years ago. Human decendents made tools from flint, discovered fire, thousands of years later pyramids for pharaohs. The human being is the only living thing that, albeit over time, has adapted it's environment to suit his needs, unlike most living things that adapt to their environment. Humans were cold, they made clothes, humans were hungry they made hunting gear. Yet with all of what humans have achieved, we have only been on the Earth for a minute of its life time.
So often we wish a boring day of work away. All to often we find ourselves run down by the realities that surround us. It is all so easy to say 'No worries', but we are humans and we tend to come with feelings! Whether we're stuck in traffic, bored at work, rushing uni assignments, take the time to appreciate the day. In meditation lately they tried to make us imagine being a mountain. Mountains have sat there, well rooted to the Earth, observing life day after day, greeting the sun, the weather in all its delights. Our landscapes have seen iceages, they have seen dinosaurs, they have seen empires and they have seen world wars. Yet they sit and allow life to happen around them. Somedays I wish I could just sit and let time pass by, although I believe it is nice to get to that state of conciousness, I also believe that we should stay concious to the fact that, It's just another day. For us a day means 24 hours of time, to the Earth it means another circle of the sun.
Enjoy and embrace the day and make a difference in any way possible. Make your mark on life and time.
